Last Day/Airport

We threw everything in the trunk of the car and we dutifully started it up to drive off. We stopped for one of our last meals in Italy, which would be at a café named Taverna Anema. We ordered Cornettis so we taste their buttery goodness one last time. Then, we went to the ferry that would take us off of Capri and back to the Italian mainland. We drove onto the huge boat and it took off blaring its loud horn. We gazed at the beautiful water, sad we would not be able to see it again for a while, if ever. We decided to visit one last place in Naples before we left for home, so we went to the Naples underground geothermal zone. This was a series of tunnels that were built through the years and run under the city.

It was mildly warm in the tunnels so we had to don our summer attire for the trip. After we finished up there, we drove off to the Naples International Airport so we could catch our flight. We took one last fleeting glance at the landscape before we rushed into the airport. The staff was very nice and directed us in the direction of the gate we needed to go, even though they couldn't speak any English. The airport was not much different from the ones in America. The only major ones being that the words were all in Italian, and they had better food. The latter of these two helped us out a lot as we had some time to kill at the airport so we had an early lunch at Trattoria Da Nennella, which was located at the airport. We ordered some nice cannolis and a slice of lasagna. They were both delicious, of course, and it was a great last meal in Italy. Image result for naples international airportWe then caught our flight and embarked on the ten-hour flight back to the states. Once we arrived we all said our goodbyes and went our separate ways home. We always remembered this amazing trip out of the country, and the passionate culture of Italy that would impact our lives forever. The art, people, landscape, architecture, culture, and love of life in Italy, remains with us to this day. William took up painting, Blake began cooking Italian food, I began Florentine Football, Luke began studying the amazing architecture, and Jack became the worlds best gardener. These were all things we were introduced to in Italy, and Italy lives on in America in our hearts.
