We had been planning this day for months. A trip to Italy from February 8th until the 18th, an eleven day trip to a foreign country! Our group pulled up to the airport around 12 o'clock. We were there an hour early as to not be at all late for our big flight. This would be my first time out of the country, so I was pumped for the opportunity to take this great trip. While we went through security, there was an announcement that our flight would be leaving exactly on time as scheduled, and we all cheered up a little. We still had a good 45 minutes to just walk around the airport, and we all got drinks and mini puzzle books from the airport convenience store. We walked up to the gate just as the plane arrived, and we got in line to board the plane. Since we were one of the first groups to board the plane, we found seats next to each other and played puzzle games and watched movies on our phones during the flight.

We arrived in Rome at 7:10 Central European time, tired from our long travel. Our pilot was extremely helpful and told us about the nice weather that would be happening that week. We ate some power bars at the airport to stay energized for the day. Then, we picked up our 2017 Nissan X-Trail that we had rented in advance and drove the 7 hours to Ivrea to be ready for the big festival the next day. On our way, we stopped at a nice café called the Antico Caffe Grecco. It was our first taste of the amazing Italian food we had heard so much about, and it was delicious! The lattés were amazing and the bread was the best I had ever tasted.
Later, we arrived at our Air B&B and Luke collapsed on the couch. Everyone was extremely tired, and I knew we didn't want to go back out that night for dinner, so I researched some convenient options. I found a cool app called Postmates, that allowed us to order the food we wanted from a specific local restaurant, and have someone pick up the food and deliver it to us. We ordered a wood oven Italian pizza and split it among us. It was great to have something familiar, but purely Italian. We were all tired from traveling, so we all just went to bed, making sure that we got some good sleep so we would be ready for the exciting day tomorrow.
